Children's Experimental Theatre celebrates its 50th year of Classical Theatre Arts Conservatory Programs at the Indoor Forest Theatre, Carmel. CET offers classes for young people grades K-12, in all aspects of dramatic training, plus the opportunity to be part of CET's famous Traveling Troupe. Since 1967 Traveling Troupe has visited elementary schools all over Monterey County, free of charge, in original fable and fairy tale productions. The Program ends with the Spring Play Festival, the first two weekends of June. Classes meet Saturdays and after school, with older students allowed to work with the adult classical company, Staff Players Repertory Company. Theatre disciplines are drawn from stage combat, fencing, staffs, movement, period dance, improvisation, period history, cultures and theatre literature, scene work, music, voice, speech and more. PacRep Theatre's School of Dramatic Arts (SoDA), a regional theatre arts program targeting Monterey County students, has recently expanded its classes and performing opportunities for children, teens and adults, and is now accepting registration for its Fall Semester, which began August 23, 2010. Held at Seccombe Hall in All Saints Church on the corner of 9th and Lincoln, Carmel, SoDA features 14 different classes in various aspects of stagecraft, for students ranging from four to adult. MaryAnn Schaupp-Rousseau returns as Director and instructor, joined this fall by Laura Akard, Mark Shuler, Diane Wiese Goyette, Susanne Sturn and MaryLee Sunseri. Scholarships are available.
